In many cases, the mould is the most expensive piece of equipment used in an injection moulding process. This is due to the complexity of the mould design, which requires precise features and production methods to assemble a functional unit.
For example, if you need 1,000 washers per year, we recommend a mould with a single cavity. That produces one washer per achine cycle. In that case, the mould would likely cost around $1,000 – $2,000.
However, needing 100,000 remote controls every month is a different story. For this requirement, you would build a hardened “family” mould with 12 cavities that would produce four fronts, four backs, and four button arrays in each cycle. For this type of mould, you would need to invest at least $60,000 – $80,000 or more.
